The Morgan Heritage Collection: Greeting Cards and Note Cards
The Morgan Heritage Collection proudly announces "Front Porch Welcome" chosen one of three finalists in the 2009 competition Rising Star Category for cards under $3.00
The greeting card industry's LOUIE Awards recognize the most outstanding greeting cards marketed in the U.S. during the previous year. The annual LOUIEs competition, which is sponsored by the Greeting Card Association (GCA), began in 1988. It is open to all greeting card publishers, and each year the competition receives entries from all over the world.
In the 2009 competition, over 800 companies submitted entries. In December, the LOUIE awards cycle begins when the GCA issues its Call for Entries. All submissions are blind judged over a two-day period by a panel of industry experts and professionals in related fields. There are more than 50 different entry categories.
Each card is scored on the basis of six criteria: Imagination, Impact, Artistry, Harmony (the blend of visual and verse), Sendability, and Value (the balance of product quality and price).
The top-scoring finalists in each category are announced in mid-March, and the winners are revealed at the annual LOUIE awards gala, held in New York City to match the timing of the National Stationery Show. This year's gala will be May 18.
The awards ceremony culminates with the naming of the two Cards of the Year: the most outstanding cards among all category winners in each of two pricing classifications, as chosen by a blue-ribbon panel.
